Introduction

GameBits is committed to providing a safe, high-quality gaming platform for players of all ages. These Content Submission Guidelines outline the standards and requirements for all content submitted to our platform, including games, descriptions, images, and other materials.

All developers, publishers, and content creators must comply with these guidelines. Failure to do so may result in content removal, account suspension, or termination.

Content Ownership & Rights

What You Must Own or License:

• Source Code: You must own all rights to the game code or have explicit permission to distribute it
• Graphics & Art: All images, sprites, backgrounds, and visual assets must be original or properly licensed
• Audio: Music, sound effects, and voice recordings must be owned or licensed for commercial use
• Third-Party Assets: Any third-party libraries, frameworks, or assets must be used in accordance with their licenses
• Fonts: All fonts must be licensed for web use and commercial distribution

Prohibited Content Ownership Violations:

• Using copyrighted characters from games, movies, TV shows, or other media without permission
• Using trademarked names, logos, or branding without authorization
• Copying or cloning existing games without permission
• Using assets from asset stores or free resources that prohibit commercial use
• Submitting games created by others without proper authorization

Content Quality Standards

Technical Requirements:

• Functionality: Games must be fully functional and free of critical bugs
• Performance: Games should run smoothly on standard devices and browsers
• Responsiveness: Games should work on both desktop and mobile devices when applicable
• Loading Time: Games should load within a reasonable timeframe (under 30 seconds recommended)
• File Size: Keep game files optimized and reasonably sized for web delivery

User Experience:

• Games must have clear instructions on how to play
• Controls must be intuitive and properly documented
• Games should have appropriate difficulty progression
• Audio should be optional with clear mute/unmute controls
• Games should handle errors gracefully without crashing the browser

Prohibited Content

We do not allow content that contains or promotes:

Illegal Activities:

• Illegal drug use or distribution
• Illegal gambling or betting
• Hacking, phishing, or other cybercrime
• Sale of illegal goods or services
• Instructions for illegal activities

Harmful or Dangerous Content:

• Graphic violence or gore intended to shock or disgust
• Self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders
• Dangerous challenges or stunts that could cause injury
• Instructions for creating weapons or explosives

Adult Content:

• Nudity or sexual content
• Pornographic or sexually explicit material
• Sexual services or escort services
• Adult dating or hookup content

Hate & Harassment:

• Content that promotes hatred or violence against individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender, age, nationality, veteran status, sexual orientation, or gender identity
• Harassment, bullying, or threats
• Doxxing or sharing private information without consent
• Content that incites violence or hatred

Misleading Content:

• Fake news or deliberate misinformation
• Phishing attempts or scams
• Impersonation of others
• Misleading game descriptions or screenshots

Malicious Content:

• Malware, viruses, or trojans
• Cryptocurrency miners without explicit user consent
• Tracking scripts beyond standard analytics
• Content designed to exploit browser vulnerabilities

Age-Appropriate Content

GameBits requires all content to be appropriately rated and labeled:

Age Ratings:

• All Ages (E): Content suitable for all ages with no violence, mild cartoon violence only
• Everyone 10+ (E10+): Mild violence, mild language, minimal suggestive themes
• Teen (T): Moderate violence, mild blood, suggestive themes, mild language
• Mature (M): Intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content, strong language (requires age verification)

Note: The majority of content on GameBits should be suitable for "Everyone" or "Everyone 10+" ratings. Mature content must be clearly labeled and age-gated.

Metadata Requirements

All submitted games must include accurate and complete metadata:

Required Information:

• Title: Unique, descriptive game title (no keyword stuffing)
• Description: Clear description of gameplay, objectives, and features (minimum 100 characters)
• Instructions: How to play the game, including controls
• Category: Appropriate category selection
• Tags: Relevant tags that describe the game (3-10 tags recommended)
• Thumbnail: High-quality screenshot or artwork (1280x720 recommended)
• Developer Information: Accurate developer name and contact information

Prohibited Metadata Practices:

• Misleading titles or descriptions
• Keyword stuffing or spam
• Irrelevant tags
• Screenshots that don't represent actual gameplay
• Copying descriptions from other games

Monetization & Advertising

Allowed:

• GameBits revenue sharing program participation
• In-game advertising through GameBits approved networks
• Optional in-game purchases (must be clearly disclosed)
• Sponsorship credits (non-intrusive)

Prohibited:

• Deceptive advertising or clickbait
• Auto-playing video or audio ads
• Malicious ads or redirects
• Ads for prohibited content (adult, gambling, etc.)
• Cryptocurrency mining without explicit user opt-in
• Pay-to-win mechanics that create unfair gameplay

Submission Process

Steps for Submitting Content:

1. Account Verification: Create and verify your developer account
2. Game Upload: Upload your game files through our developer portal
3. Metadata Entry: Complete all required metadata fields
4. Testing: Test your game thoroughly before submission
5. Rights Confirmation: Confirm you have all necessary rights and licenses
6. Review: Submit for review by our moderation team
7. Approval: Once approved, your game will be published on GameBits

Review Timeline:

• Initial review: 1-3 business days
• Resubmissions after changes: 1-2 business days
• Appeals: 3-5 business days

Content Moderation

GameBits employs both automated and manual content moderation:

Automated Screening:

• Malware and virus scanning
• Trademark and copyright detection
• Profanity and inappropriate content detection
• Technical quality checks

Manual Review:

• All new submissions are manually reviewed
• Flagged content is reviewed by human moderators
• Community reports are investigated
• Regular audits of published content

Appeals Process:

If your content is rejected, you may appeal the decision by:

1. Reviewing the rejection reason provided
2. Making necessary corrections to your content
3. Resubmitting with a detailed explanation of changes

Community Reporting

Users can report content that violates these guidelines. Reports are reviewed promptly, and appropriate action is taken. False or malicious reports may result in restrictions on the reporting user's account.

What to Report:

• Copyright or trademark violations
• Inappropriate or prohibited content
• Technical issues or broken games
• Misleading metadata
• Scams or phishing attempts

Enforcement & Penalties

Violations of these guidelines may result in:

First Offense (Minor Violations):

• Warning and request to correct the issue
• Temporary removal of content until corrected
• Required revision and resubmission

Serious or Repeated Violations:

• Permanent removal of content
• Account suspension (temporary or permanent)
• Loss of monetization privileges
• Blacklisting from future submissions
• Legal action (in cases of illegal content or severe violations)

Immediate Removal:

Content will be removed immediately without warning for:

• Illegal content
• Malware or malicious code
• Severe copyright violations
• Explicit adult content
• Content promoting violence or hate

Updates & Changes

Existing games must be updated to comply with any changes to these guidelines within 30 days of notification. Failure to update may result in content removal.

GameBits reserves the right to update these guidelines at any time. Material changes will be communicated to all developers via email and platform notifications.

• Follow platform updates and guideline changes
