Attack Hole
How to Play
Game Overview
Attack Hole is one of those games that sounds ridiculous but actually works. You're this little black hole, rolling around a battlefield, and your job is to suck up every weapon you see -- guns, swords, missiles, even tanks. The visual style is really basic, like a flash game from 2008, but that's part of its charm. Everything is bright and blocky, with enemies that look like angry action figures. The vibe is pure chaos. You're not sneaking around or planning carefully -- you're just devouring stuff as fast as you can while a timer ticks down. The music is this repetitive electronic beat that gets stuck in your head. What makes it fun is the panic when you see a giant enemy lumbering toward you and you realize you haven't collected enough firepower yet. The controls are simple: just drag your hole around. But the game throws different weapon types at you, and each one changes how you fight in the final showdown. Some weapons are slow but hit hard, others are fast but weak. You'll die a lot, especially on later levels where the timer is brutal. People who like arcade-style action games with a weird premise will get hooked. It's not deep, but it's satisfying to see everything get swallowed up.
About Attack Hole
Attack Hole is one of those games where you start out thinking "okay, this is just a black hole eating stuff" and then an hour later you're sweating bullets trying to swallow a missile before it blows up your face. The core loop is dead simple: you control a black hole that rolls around levels, and your goal is to suck up all the weapons scattered around before the timer runs out. But here's the thing--you're not just collecting shiny objects. Every weapon you swallow gets added to your arsenal, and at the end of each level, you fight some giant enemy using everything you've gathered. The controls are just moving your hole around with the mouse or touch, and you can make it bigger by eating more stuff. That's it for the basics, but the game gets nasty quick.
Early levels are tutorials disguised as fun. You roll through simple arenas picking up pistols and knives, and the first boss is a big armored truck that just sits there. Not too hard. But around world two, things change. Levels like "Armory Alley" introduce hazards--explosive barrels, turrets that shoot at you, and floating mines that chase your hole. You have to prioritize what to eat. Do you grab that rocket launcher first or dodge the mine to get the shield generator? The timer adds this constant pressure; you can't just wander. Some weapons have special effects when swallowed. A flamethrower makes your hole burn enemies on contact for a few seconds, while a sniper rifle lets you shoot a beam at distant targets. That beam is actually really satisfying--it's like your hole suddenly gains a laser eye.
Later levels, like "Missile Crisis" or "Final Fortress," throw swarms at you: drones, walking tanks, and these annoying little spike balls that pop up from the ground. The giant enemies at the end of each stage scale with what you collected. If you grabbed mostly small arms, the giant is a slow mech you can chip away at. But if you swallowed that nuke from the secret room? The giant might have a health bar that melts in seconds, which feels amazing. There's a risk-reward thing with secret rooms. Some have doors that only open if you've eaten a certain number of weapons from the previous level. Inside, you find rare stuff like the "Black Hole Cannon" which doubles your damage for the boss fight. Missing those secrets makes later levels legitimately hard.
The upgrade system is between levels. You spend points earned from clearing stages on things like "Swallow Speed" (makes eating faster), "Hole Health" (less damage from enemy hits), and "Attraction Range" (sucks things from farther away). There's also a passive ability called "Magnetic Pull" that auto-collects small weapons near you--totally worth maxing early. Boss fights themselves have phases. Some giant enemies split into smaller parts after taking damage, and you have to re-eat those parts to finish them off. Timing matters because the timer is still ticking during the boss fight, so you can't just spam attacks. One mistake I learned the hard way: don't ignore the little repair drones that heal the boss. They're easy to miss when you're focused on the big guy.
What's satisfying is when you get a perfect run--eating every weapon in a level with seconds to spare, then unleashing all that firepower on the giant in one burst. The game doesn't hold your hand, and some level designs feel unfair at first, but the loop is addictive because each run is only a few minutes. There are also challenge modes that lock your upgrades or reduce the timer to 30 seconds--those are brutal. Honestly, the game's biggest flaw is that some weapon combos are just better than others, so you end up chasing the same upgrades every time. But the variety of enemies keeps it fresh. I still haven't beaten the last boss on hard mode--that thing has a second form that shoots lasers everywhere. Maybe next time.
Tips & Tricks
Don't waste time on tiny weapons early -- they barely fill your attack bar and the timer is ruthless. Focus on the biggest things you can swallow first, even if they're awkward to aim at. I kept trying to collect everything and ended up with a puny arsenal when the boss showed up. The boss phase is where the real damage matters, so your priority is building that weapon stockpile fast. One trick that saved me: the hole's suction gets stronger the longer you hold the button, so don't tap -- hold it down and sweep across clusters of items. You'll pull in stuff from farther away. Another thing: the timer pauses briefly when you swallow a really big object, like a tank or a missile launcher. Use that pause to reposition and aim for the next big target. I died three times before realizing you can dodge the boss's attacks by moving in short bursts -- don't hold a direction, just tap to juke. Also, the weapons you collect aren't all equal; explosives and lasers deal way more damage than bullets or swords, so prioritize those during the boss fight. If you see a crate or a structure, break it open -- sometimes there's a super weapon hidden inside that turns the fight around. Lastly, don't panic when the timer hits single digits. Stay calm, keep sucking, and use that final big swallow right before zero to unleash everything at once.
