Funny Snake
How to Play
Game Overview
So I picked up Funny Snake expecting just another mobile clone, but it's actually more of a puzzle-adventure with a weird sense of humor. The visual style is bright and cartoony, almost like a Saturday morning cartoon come to life, with a snake that has this goofy stretchy animation that never gets old. You're sliding through these colorful levels that look like a candy land mixed with a garden, and the snake grows longer as you eat fruit, which sounds simple until you realize the thorns and obstacles are laid out to mess with your path. The vibe is lighthearted but surprisingly tense when you're trying to squeeze through a tight gap without hitting a spike. Controls are mouse or keyboard arrows, and it feels responsive enough that when you mess up, it's your own fault. Who'd get hooked? People who liked Snake but wanted more variety--like, there are keys to unlock, teleporters, and even some bouncy platforms that fling you around. It's not deep, but it's the kind of game you play for 10 minutes and suddenly an hour's gone. The music is bouncy and matches the theme, no complaints there. Honestly, it's a fun little time-waster that doesn't take itself seriously, and that's rare.
About Funny Snake
So you're controlling a snake that's, well, funny-looking. It's got this goofy grin and bounces around like it's on a pogo stick. The main thing is eating fruit. Apples, grapes, bananas--they're all over the place. Each one makes your snake longer and adds a little wiggle to its movement. That's the loop: eat fruit, grow, don't die. The controls are simple: tap or click to change direction, or use the arrow keys. Left and right turn you, up makes you go faster for a second, down slows you down. You'll need both speeds later.
The first few levels are easy. You're in "Green Meadows" and there's just some thorns scattered around. Touch them and you lose a segment or die outright if you're short enough. So you learn to weave. Then level 3, "Cactus Canyon," introduces spikes that pop up from the ground. They're on a timer, so you have to memorize patterns. That's where the brain part kicks in. You're not just dodging; you're planning two moves ahead because your tail follows you and can get caught on stuff.
Around level 6, "Lava Labyrinth," you meet the first enemy: a bouncing red blob called a "Hothead." It chases you. Not fast, but persistent. You have to lure it into a pit or a spike to get rid of it. That's satisfying--watching it splat. Later, in "Icy Tunnels," there's ice patches that make you slide. Losing control is frustrating but also hilarious because your snake's face goes from grin to panic. Level 9 has "Gravity Switches" that flip your controls upside down for a few seconds. It's a mess.
The upgrades are simple: you collect stars hidden in levels to unlock new skins and a "Shield" power-up that absorbs one hit. There's also a "Speed Boost" that lets you plow through thorns for a short time. The real satisfying moment is nailing a long chain of fruit without stopping--your snake grows and you thread through a narrow gap just in time. The later levels, like "Neon Nightmare," have floating obstacles and teleporters that mess with your sense of direction. It gets chaotic. Not every level is a winner--some feel unfair with too many things spawning at once. But when you finally beat a hard level, the snake does a little victory dance, which is dumb and great. You'll keep playing just to see the next dumb animation.
Tips & Tricks
Keep your snake's head aimed where you want to go early, because once you start turning, it's easy to clip a thorn with your tail later. The fruit respawns after you leave a section, so don't panic if you miss one--loop back around carefully. I died way too many times trying to grab every single fruit in a row; prioritize survival over a full belly in tight spots. Those thorns have a weird hitbox--sometimes the tip of your tail touches them even if it looks clear, so give extra space. The left/right arrow keys feel more precise than mouse for quick dodges, especially in later levels with narrow paths. If you're stuck on a level, watch the obstacle pattern: they move in cycles, so pause a moment to time your dash. One trick that clicked for me: you can slide along walls if you barely tap the direction--helps in cramped corridors without oversteering. Don't rush into a new area blind; poke your head around the corner first to spot thorns hiding just off-screen. That stretchy snake body is your biggest enemy--keep it tight by not zigzagging wildly unless you're ready to untangle a mess.
