Zombie Raid
How to Play
Game Overview
Zombie Raid is one of those games that doesn't pretend to be anything fancy -- you're in a city that's been completely overrun, and your job is to mow down zombies until the streets are clear. The visual style leans into that gritty, post-apocalyptic look with muted colors and lots of rubble, but it's not trying to win any awards for realism. What surprised me is how many different zombies they threw in -- some are fast, some are tanky, and a few even explode, which forces you to keep moving instead of just camping in one spot. The controls are simple on PC: A and D keys to slide left and right, which sounds basic, but it actually works well because you're constantly dodging and repositioning. You get missions like survival waves, cleanup runs, and even clown hunting -- that one caught me off guard, but it's a nice break from the usual routine. The weapon selection is where the game shines: you start with bats and crossbows, but eventually unlock lightsabers and blasters, which feel ridiculous in the best way. Each mission gets tougher, and the enemies scale up, so you need to grind for gold and crystals to upgrade your gear or unlock new characters. If you like mindless action games where you can turn your brain off and just blast things for 10-15 minutes, this will hook you. It's not deep, but it knows exactly what it is.
About Zombie Raid
Zombie Raid drops you into a city that's completely overrun, and your job is to clear it out. The core loop is pretty simple: you pick a mission from a list -- stuff like Survival, Cleanup, or Running -- and then you're dropped into a small map with zombies pouring in from all sides. Your hands are on the keyboard, A and D to strafe left and right, and you're mostly kiting enemies while firing or swinging. Early on, you get a bat and a basic pistol, which feels a bit weak, but that's the hook. You grind gold and a few crystals from each mission, then spend them in the shop to upgrade damage, reload speed, or health. The satisfying moment comes when you finally unlock a crossbow or a lightsaber -- those things tear through the early zombies like tissue paper. The difficulty ramps up in a way that feels fair, mostly. By mission 10 or so, you start seeing special zombie types: spitters that slow you down, big bruisers that take a ton of hits, and runners that close the gap fast. The Clown Hunting missions are a weird but fun twist -- clowns instead of zombies, but they move erratically and explode on death. You have to watch your positioning constantly, because getting surrounded means death in seconds. The game introduces different weapons at a decent pace: shotguns for crowd control, blasters for ranged precision, and even a chainsaw that chews through ammo but feels amazing. Upgrades aren't just linear -- you can invest in specific weapon trees, which changes how you approach each level. Gold is the main currency, earned by killing zombies and completing objectives, while crystals are rarer and used for premium unlocks like new characters. Watching ads gives you a small gold bonus, which is tedious but helpful early on. The maps are small but varied: a dark alley, a supermarket, a school gym. Each has little choke points where you can funnel zombies, but later missions spawn enemies from behind too, so you can't just camp. There's no real story, just a series of increasingly hard missions, but the progression loop keeps you coming back -- unlock a new gun, try it on a harder level, die, upgrade, try again. It's not complex, but it works.
Tips & Tricks
The bat is decent early on, but don't get attached to it. Once you unlock the crossbow, it's a game changer. You can pick off zombies from a distance before they swarm you. I kept trying to tank hits with melee weapons and kept dying. That was my first big mistake. The running missions are tricky. My tip is to not stop moving even for a second. If you pause to aim, you get surrounded fast. Just fire while strafing. Gold is precious. Don't waste it on upgrading every single weapon. Focus on two or three that match your playstyle. I upgraded everything and ran out of resources for the missions that really needed a strong gun. Clown hunting missions sound goofy, but those clowns are fast. Use a weapon with spread like the shotgun. It helps when they zigzag. The lightsaber looks cool, but its range is shorter than you think. I kept overreaching and got bitten. Stick to ranged weapons for harder waves. Crystals are rare. Save them for characters that boost your stats, not just cosmetic ones. I bought a character for looks and regretted it when the next mission wrecked me. Watch ads for extra gold between missions. It's boring, but it adds up fast and gets you better gear sooner.
