Game Overview

Hug and Kis City is this quirky little co-op game where you're basically herding two adorable blob characters through zombie-infested city streets to get them home. The art style is bright and cartoony, almost like a Saturday morning show, but the zombies are more goofy than scary--they shuffle around in a way that's more annoying than threatening. You and a friend each control one character, and the whole point is to grab gold, find a key, and then both of you need to reach the glowing door at the end without getting caught. The game feels pretty chaotic at first because you're always trying to coordinate who goes where, and if one of you gets grabbed by a zombie, the other has to run over and free them. There's no real combat, just dodging and timing. The streets are divided into colorful districts, each with its own theme--like a candy-colored market or a neon-lit downtown--and the puzzles are simple but demand that you both pay attention. The vibe is super lighthearted; it's less about challenge and more about laughing at your partner's mistakes. Whoever enjoys silly couch co-op games like Overcooked but with less stress would get hooked. It's not a deep game, but for a quick laugh with a friend, it works. The controls are basic--move, interact, and hug to boost your score--so anyone can jump in. Just don't expect anything too polished; it's rough around the edges, but charming in its own way.

About Hug and Kis City

Hug and Kis City is a two-player co-op game where you and a friend each control one of the two characters -- they're basically inseparable little blobs with legs. The whole point is to get both of them from the start of a level to the glowing door at the end, but it's never a straight path. You've got to pick up gold scattered around, find a magic key hidden somewhere, and then both reach the door together. If one gets grabbed by a zombie, you fail and restart the level.

Right from the first level, Pink Park, you're figuring out basic stuff: one player jumps on a switch while the other runs under a gate before it closes. The controls are simple -- move, jump, and a hug button. Hugging your partner gives you a score boost and also heals them if they got hit, which is actually useful because zombies chip away at your health. Early on, zombies are slow and dumb, just shuffling in straight lines. But by the time you hit level three, Midnight Mall, they start chasing you faster and some even teleport short distances.

The satisfying part is when you and your partner nail a tricky sequence without talking -- like one jumps over a pit while the other pulls a lever to extend a bridge, all in one smooth motion. Later levels like Subway Station throw in conveyor belts and moving platforms that force you to time everything perfectly. There's also a mechanic where you share a life bar -- if one takes damage, both lose health. That makes the hug heal even more critical.

Gold coins are everywhere, and grabbing enough unlocks bonus levels like Rooftop Race, but the real goal is the leaderboard. Each level has a time bonus and a gold bonus, so replaying to shave off seconds or find every coin is part of the loop. The game never tells you about hidden shortcuts -- like in level five, Haunted House, there's a false wall you can walk through if you hug right in front of it.

Enemy variety picks up too: there are spitters that slow you down, big zombies that block paths until you both push them, and later, ghost zombies that phase through walls. You never get upgrades permanently -- it's all about using what's in the level. The difficulty jumps noticeably around the fourth world, Industrial Zone, where you've got to manage multiple levers while dodging enemies on narrow catwalks.

The most annoying thing is when you're inches from the door and a zombie grabs your partner because they got greedy for one last coin. But when you both sprint through the door together with max gold and zero damage, it feels great. There's no story payoff or big cinematic -- just a number on the leaderboard and the next level unlocking.

Tips & Tricks

One tip that saved me a lot of frustration: keep both characters close together. The game punishes you if one gets too far ahead, especially when zombies spawn. I lost a run because my partner rushed for gold while I was stuck behind a fence. Hugging isn't just for score -- it actually creates a brief speed boost and clears a small area around you. Abuse that when zombies crowd in. Another thing: the key doesn't always spawn in the same spot. I spent three minutes searching one level because I assumed it was near the end, but it was hiding behind a bench early on. So backtrack if you don't see it right away. For the zombies, don't try to outrun them in straight lines. Zigzag or use obstacles. They have a weird pathfinding quirk where they get stuck on corners if you bait them. That's how I got through the market district without losing a life. Gold collection is tricky because some coins float in mid-air -- you need to time your jumps carefully or one character will fall into a pit. Speaking of pits, the moving platforms in world three are less forgiving than they look. If you jump too early, you'll clip through the edge. Wait until the platform is fully under you. Lastly, the leaderboard only counts your best run, so don't stress about replaying levels. Focus on getting both characters to the door with all gold collected for the biggest multiplier. Dying once resets that level's bonus for that attempt.
