Now each girl has a specific vibe--say, 'edgy punk' for one, 'cute fairy' for another--and you're given vague hints like 'add spikes' or 'grab wings.' There's no explicit checklist; you have to infer from the character's backstory and the theme. If you pick a wrong item, the friend gives a disappointed reaction--a frown or a shake of the head--which is oddly motivating to avoid. The upgrade system kicks in around level 10: earning stars from each level unlocks new color palettes and rare items like glowing accessories or animated makeup effects. You start planning which levels to replay for stars, because that 'Midnight Sparkle' eyeshadow is locked behind a three-star rating on 'Ghostly Glam.' The game doesn't hold your hand through these later stages--you learn by trial and error what works for, say, a zombie cheerleader costume versus a vintage vampire look. There's even a set of 'mystery boxes' that appear after completing three consecutive levels, giving random cosmetic items that can break a stuck outfit idea. The loop is: pick a level, dress up against the challenge, earn stars, unlock more stuff, then try again for better scores.
