Shotguns are brutal in close quarters, but the pump-action has a nasty fire rate delay. Switching to the automatic shotgun after losing several tight fights made a huge difference for me.

Free-for-All is chaos, but camping gets you killed--someone always knows where you are. Moving unpredictably and using the mini-map to track kill feeds helps you avoid hot zones.

Weapon customization isn't just cosmetic. The grip attachment reduces recoil noticeably on assault rifles, making mid-range fights way easier. I ignored attachments for too long and paid for it.

Some maps have destructible walls--shoot them to create new sightlines. I thought they were just decoration until a lucky grenade blew one open and I saw the enemy team huddled behind it.

Don't bother with the sniper scope upgrade until you've mastered the iron sights. The zoom throws off your aim if you're not used to the bullet travel time.
