Around level 5, named "Arachnid Ascension," the game throws in wasps that fly and bees that zigzag. You have to predict their movement, not just chase straight. Later, there are scorpions that shoot projectiles and praying mantises that lunge at you. The difficulty spikes hard around level 8, "Silk and Venom," where enemies spawn in waves from both sides. You can't just sit in one spot.

Upgrades show up after every few evolutions -- you pick between speed, health, or attack damage. Speed helps you dodge, health lets you survive one extra hit, and attack damage means you kill prey faster. I usually went speed first because getting oneshot by a random wasp is infuriating. There's also a poison bite ability you unlock around level 12. It slows down enemies for a few seconds, which is clutch when three mantises corner you.

The brain part is pattern recognition -- learning which bugs move in lines and which circle back. The satisfying moment is when you chain evolutions without dying, and your spider grows huge on screen. By level 15, you're this massive beast with glowing eyes, and smaller bugs just explode when you touch them. But then the game introduces bosses. The first boss, "Queen Bee," spawns minions nonstop. You have to focus her while dodging a screen full of stingers. I died like six times there.

There's no end goal -- you just keep evolving and the numbers go up. Levels repeat with harder combinations. The music stays the same loop the whole time, which gets old fast. Honestly, the most fun is the early game when every bug is a threat and you're scrambling.

There's a hidden mechanic where staying still near a wall makes you harder to spot for aggressive predators, which is great for recovering health. One mistake that cost me a run: trying to fight every enemy. Sometimes the smart move is to skitter past a bigger spider and grab the evolution orb behind it, then come back stronger. The shop has a luck stat that most people skip, but I found it boosts rare item drops noticeably after level 5. Finally, if you're stuck on a level, try switching control methods -- keyboard for precise vertical movement, mouse for horizontal jukes. That shift alone got me past a boss I'd failed on ten times.
