How to Play

Game Overview

SuStainable 3 is this weird little arcade game where you play a museum security guard, and it's not what I expected. The whole thing has this low-poly, almost PS1-era visual style--blocky characters and flat textures that somehow make the museum feel creepy and nostalgic at the same time. You're wandering around these big, empty galleries filled with paintings and statues, and there's this constant tension because someone's going to try and wreck them. The vibe is sort of like being in a haunted house where the ghosts are eco-activists with spray paint. You've got 24 suspects, four of them new, and you have to figure out which one is the actual vandal by checking rooms for clues. I like that it's not just a simple chase--you actually have to use your brain a bit. Once you find the right person, you whack them with your tonfa, which feels satisfying but also a little goofy. Then comes the interrogation part, which is where the game gets stressful. You have to find a hidden paint bucket to win, and messing up means you lose instantly. It's short, maybe an hour or two, but it's got this charm that makes you want to replay it to see all the different characters. Anyone who digs older-looking indie games with a weird sense of humor will probably get hooked. Just don't expect any fancy graphics or deep storytelling--it's pure arcade fun with a dash of puzzle.

About SuStainable 3

So you're a security guard in a museum and some eco-terrorists want to wreck the paintings. The game throws you into these big rooms like the Modern Wing or the Ancient Artifact Hall, and you've got to figure out which one of the 24 characters wandering around is the actual bad guy. You walk around with WASD, click or hit space to smack suspects with your tonfa, and M brings up hints if you're stuck. The core loop is: walk into a gallery, scan the crowd for anyone acting weird--maybe someone's loitering near a painting or looks nervous--then chase them down and bonk them. But if you hit the wrong person, they scream and you lose reputation, which makes the next suspect harder to spot. After you catch the right one, a minigame starts where you interrogate them. There's a hidden paint bucket somewhere in the room, and you need to find it before time runs out or you mess up the questions. One wrong click during interrogation and it's game over--no second chances. Difficulty ramps up as you progress. Early levels like The Quiet Gallery have only a handful of suspects, and the clues are obvious--like a person with a crowbar or someone wearing all black. By the time you hit The Grand Atrium, there's twenty people moving around, some are decoys that purposely act suspicious to trick you, and the real culprit blends in by acting normal. Later, you get a temporary upgrade called the 'Focus Mode' that highlights anyone who's moved near a painting in the last few seconds--super useful when the room is packed. The satisfying moment is when you're in a chaotic scene with alarms blaring and people running, and you spot the one guy who's heading for the exit with paint on his sleeve. You sprint, smack him, then nail the interrogation by finding that bucket behind a statue. It feels good because the game doesn't hold your hand--you earn every win. Some mechanics like the 'Distraction' events--where a fake fire alarm goes off or a character starts screaming--add noise you have to ignore. The game never explains why the bad guys keep coming, but the pressure is real. You'll lose runs because you got greedy and hit a tourist instead of waiting for the real clue.

Tips & Tricks

The paint bucket is never in the same spot twice, but it's always in the same room as the interrogation. So don't panic-search the whole museum after you chase down your suspect--just scan that one room carefully. I wasted three games running back to the entrance before I figured that out. The M key hint system is a lifesaver if you're stuck, but using it too early can spoil the fun. Save it for when you've checked every room twice and still can't find a clue. Those 24 characters? They all move on their own patrol routes, which means sometimes the culprit walks right past you and you don't notice. Keep an eye on anyone who abruptly changes direction or lingers near a painting--that's a red flag. Your tonfa attack has a short range, so get close before you click or hit spacebar. I once tried to bonk a suspect from across the hall and just swung at air while they ran off. The new suspects in this version are trickier--one of them looks almost identical to a regular visitor, but their walking animation is slightly faster. Watch for that. Finally, don't chase the wrong person too long; the real culprit will trigger a cutscene if you're on their tail, but random visitors just keep running. That saved me a lot of wasted time.
